• Let there be light – If you don't already have a headlamp for camping/hiking, you need one. A few years ago, there weren't many choices – now there are! There are other brands, but Petzl Headlamps are excellent.
• High tech – Some of the best GPS units available, Garmin...trusted by outdoorsmen and even by aircraft pilots
• Utilitarian camping trailers – The Aussies, with a vast outback to explore and play in, have developed some very cool camping gear. Among my favorites: Kamparoo – a very cool trailer, rarely seen in the U.S., and a great way to get an unlimited hot shower in the woods.
• REI – A favorite place to shop for awesome outdoor gear.
